In fact, the truffle’s origin as a delicacy has been the stuff of legend for over 5,000-years. However,today, Luigi Dattilo can trace his own discovery of the magical tuber to when he was a young boy.

Like most of the boys in his village, Luigi worked hard and saved his money. But while his friends were interested in cars, Luigi was interested in truffles. So much so that he took his savings and bought a puppy he named Geo. But Geo was not just any puppy, but a puppy Luigi thought would make a good truffle dog. One that he would be able to train and build a strong relationship with over the years before the dog would be ready to go into the field hunting for truffles. After investing the time and nurturing his dog, Luigi hunted for truffles in the woods of the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy and his passion for them grew stronger.
